  • TSCA Definition 2018: A complex combination of hydrocarbons obtained by hydrotreating whole shale oil to selectively reduce trace elements such as arsenic, to reduce nitrogen, oxygen and sulfur content, and to reduce the amount of unsaturated hydrocarbons, followed by hydrocracking and dewaxing. It consists predominantly of saturated hydrocarbons having carbon numbers in the range of C4 through C50. It may contain less than 0.01 wt.% nitrogen, less than 5.0 wt.% polynuclear aromatic hydrocarbons and less than 0.02 ppm arsenic.
