- A complex combination of hydrocarbons obtained by treating a distillate of the product of a bitumen cracking process with hydrogen in the presence of a catalyst. It consists primarily of hydrocarbons, aromatic hydrocarbons, and heterocyclic aromatics having carbon numbers predominantly in the range of C11 to C40. It has an aromatic content greater than 5% and boils in the range of approximately -190 degrees C to 550 degrees C (-310 degrees F to 1022 degrees F).
