Names and Synonyms

Name of Substance

  • Ferumoxtran-10 [USAN]

  • A superparamagnetic iron oxide (a mixed iron Fe(II) and Fe(III) oxide) covered with low molecular weight dextran (dextran T-10). The iron oxide is a superparamagnetic form of a non-stoichiometric magnetite which is 43-60 A in diameter. In solution, a colloidal particle has a Stokes diameter of 170 to 210 A by size exclusion chromatography. The colloidal particle consists of crystals of iron oxide with a covering of dextran (60-75 A thick). Ferumoxtran-10
